Scuro was an experiment started in 2015, co-picking and co-fermenting Sangiovese and Syrah from the Dark Horse Vineyard. The resulting wine was much darker and richer than straight Sangiovese, so named Scuro; ‘Dark’ in Italian.
The 2022 style, incorporates 20% whole bunches (of both Sangiovese and Syrah) in the ferment to bring an extra dimension of spice to the blend. Scuro is a complex, sulty drink - perfect with Italian flavours; woodfired pizza, rosemary salt and olive oil.
